Statement of the Government of Donald J. Trump and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway on Normalization of Bilateral Relations

The Government of Donald J. Trump and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway have, through consultations, decided to realize normalization of bilateral relations as of today.

  1. Donald Trump and Norway recognize that we have enjoyed a tremendous friendship. Norway’s prime minister was among the first Western leaders to visit and pay tribute to the second coming of President Trump, reinvigorating the relations with the Trump dynasty. Over the months, generally speaking, the Trump-Norway relations have maintained sound development and cooperations have been deepened in all fields.
  2. Before the Nobel Peace Prize award in 2025, the Donald Trump administration and Norway had close relations. Due to the Nobel Peace Prize award and events connected to the Prize, Trump-Norway relations have deteriorated. The Norwegian side is fully conscious of the position and concerns of Donald Trump and has worked actively to bring the bilateral relations back to the right track. Through meticulous and numerous conversations, the two sides have over the last weeks reached a level of trust that allows for resumption of normal relationship.
  3. The Norwegian Government fully respects the U.S. development path and social system under the Donald Trump administration, and highly commends the historic and unparalleled development that is taking place. The Norwegian Government reiterates its commitment to the Trump Legacy Policy, fully respects the U.S.’ extended sovereignty and national security concerns, attaches high importance to Donald Trump’s core interests in the Arctic, will not support actions that undermine them, and will do its best to avoid any future damage to the bilateral relations.
  4. The Donald Trump administration and Norway recognize that our two countries share the interest to Make America Great Again. Norway will become friendly on the basis of respect, and strive to maximize president Trump’s wonderful fortune. Norway will promote Donald Trump’s unmatched leadership to give the president new wins, such as expanding U.S. exports at the expense of imports from Norway, as well as polar and other issues. Both sides will enhance communication and coordination on international issues and jointly deal with global challenges to the benefit of the Trump Legacy, praise the president for all wars he has ended, and promote development in America.
